What does this fault code mean?
On the diesel engine, the engine control module registers that the signal from the position sensor for the air intake control valve is too low. The causes are oxidized or poor connectors, a wire shorted to ground, or a damaged control valve.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Wire shorted to ground
- Damaged control valve at the air intake inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the control valve are intact
- 2Check the connectors at the control valve and the control module: they should be fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the control valve and see whether the position sensor value follows in live data
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the control valve should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
