What does this fault code mean?
On the diesel engine, the engine control module registers that the signal from the position sensor for the air intake control valve is too high. The causes are a wire that has come into contact with supply voltage, or a damaged control valve.
Possible causes
- Wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged control valve at the air intake inlet
What you can do
- 1Start by checking that the fuses for the control valve are intact
- 2With the ignition on and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to see whether the wire to the control valve carries voltage
- 3Follow the wire to the control valve and look for chafing and pinched sections where it may have contacted a live wire
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the position sensor value in live data with the engine running and see whether it stays constantly high
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the control valve should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
