What does this fault code mean?
The glow plugs are switched through a relay, and the control module monitors the control circuit between that relay and the module. The fault is set when the control module detects a signal that is too high in this circuit.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Wire supplying the glow plugs short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Switch off the ignition and check the connectors to the glow plug relay for loose connections and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the relay is not shorted to voltage
- 4Also check that the supply wire to the glow plugs is not shorted to voltage, and look for chafed wires that may have touched a live part
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the relay and the wiring
