What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the brake pedal position sensor and sets the fault when it registers a fault in the sensor. The fault can only be detected after at least one heavy braking. The cause is a signal wire shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1First read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM). This code cannot be erased until they are dealt with
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the brake pedal sensor is not shorted to ground
- 3Look for chafed wires at the brake pedal that may have touched ground
- 4The brake system is a safety function: have a workshop check the brake pedal sensor and the brake control module if the fault remains
