What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks its own configuration ID against the signal configuration that the central electronic module (CEM) broadcasts on the CAN network. If the IDs do not match, the code is set. This is a follow-on code: it is stored first in the CEM and then in the ECM. The fault should therefore be fixed in the CEM first, and the code cleared afterwards.
Possible causes
- The central electronic module (CEM) sends incorrect configuration data over the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and remedy them; this code is a follow-on fault
- 2If work has recently been done on the car, such as replacing a control module, the configuration may be wrong; have a workshop check it and reprogram it if needed
- 3Clear this code only after the CEM fault has been remedied and cleared, then road test the car and see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
