What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the A/C relay and sets the code when the relay signal comes in above what is expected. The cause may be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage or a damaged A/C relay. Air conditioning may then stop working.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged A/C relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the air conditioning fuses are intact
- 2With the ignition off, check the connectors at the A/C relay for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check the signal wire to the relay for chafing and for a short to supply voltage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with battery voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the relay needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Air conditioning does not work
