What does this fault code mean?
The ECM previously registered a fault with the signal from its built-in air pressure sensor, but the fault is no longer present, so it is intermittent. Although the code can apply to a signal that is too high or too low, the fault is tied to the sensor and, when the signal is faulty, to connections or air leaks in the intake system.
Possible causes
- Defective control module, for signals that are too high or too low
- Contact resistance in the connections, for a faulty signal
- Air leak in the intake system, for a faulty signal
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car; if it does not return, the fault is probably intermittent
- 2Check that the connectors at the control module are tight and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the hoses in the intake system are secure and not leaking air
- 4If the code returns, the control module is probably the cause; a workshop should decide whether it needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
What the fault can affect1
- The control module assumes a default air pressure value corresponding to sea level
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
