What does this fault code mean?
Two pressure readings are checked against each other: the filtered intake manifold value and the air pressure from the module's own sensor. If the difference between them is too large, the code is set. The fault may lie in the intake manifold pressure sensor or in the control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connector to the intake manifold pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, switch the ignition on and compare the intake manifold pressure with the atmospheric pressure in live data; the two readings should be close to each other
- 3If the readings differ a lot, have a workshop decide which sensor is giving the wrong value
- 4If the atmospheric pressure sensor seems faulty, it is built into the control module, so a workshop must replace the whole module and program the software
- 5After any repair, check that the two readings agree again and that the code does not return

- If the intake manifold pressure sensor works, a filtered value from it is used
- Otherwise a default air pressure value for sea level is used
