What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has found that the front oxygen sensor on bank 1 incorrectly indicates a rich fuel and air mixture. The sensor therefore gives a wrong signal, and control of the fuel mixture becomes inaccurate.
Possible causes
- Damaged or faulty injectors
- Damaged front oxygen sensor on bank 1
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the injectors for visible damage and leaks
- 3Check the oxygen sensor connector for play and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the injectors and replace the front oxygen sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp comes on
