What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has noticed that the rear oxygen sensor on bank 1 incorrectly shows a rich mixture. The rear sensor checks the exhaust after the catalytic converter, so wrong readings there make control of the mixture inaccurate.
Possible causes
- Damaged or faulty injectors
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor on bank 1
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the injectors for visible damage and leaks
- 3Check the rear oxygen sensor connector for play and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the injectors and replace the rear oxygen sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
