What does this fault code mean?
The injection time for the injector valve on cylinder 2 has been wrong. The engine control module monitors the injector output stages, and when the time does not match the code is set. The last digit of the code gives the cylinder, here cylinder 2.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal cable (+)
- Open circuit in the signal cable (-)
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, road test and see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector on the cylinder 2 injector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the two wires to the injector are not broken and have no short to ground or supply voltage
- 4If the fault returns and nothing is found, have a workshop replace the cylinder 2 injector if needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine lacks power and runs poorly
- A message and a warning symbol appear in the display
What the fault can affect2
- Engine speed is limited
- The car can be driven in limp-home mode
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
