What does this fault code mean?
The measured air quantity from the mass air flow sensor is larger than the calculated one, which engine management does not accept. The code is set when the difference becomes too large during operation. The fault can show up as uneven idling, and the warning lamp comes on.
Possible causes
- Air leakage in the intake system
- Contaminated throttle body
- Blocked intake system
- Damaged mass air flow sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the mass air flow sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Make sure the hoses between the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body are sealed and undamaged
- 3Clean the throttle body if needed, after checking that it is contaminated
- 4Clear the code and road test
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor
