What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module requests a certain fuel pressure in the fuel rail through the fuel pump and the pressure control valve. If the pressure does not follow the requested value, the code is set. The fault may lie in the sensor, the control valve, the pump or a blocked fuel filter.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation at the pressure control valve connector
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation at the fuel pressure sensor connector
- Clogged fuel filter
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pump
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1The fuel system runs at very high pressure and can cause injury, so do not work on it yourself
- 2Check the connectors to the pressure control valve and the fuel pressure sensor for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the fuel filter is not clogged and that the injectors and the pressure control valve show no leaks
- 4Clear the code after a test drive; if it returns and nothing is found, a workshop can try a new fuel pressure sensor
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the fuel pump and the pressure control valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine lacks power
- A message and a warning symbol appear in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed is limited
