What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module keeps watch on the fuel pressure control valve. If the pressure the valve produces does not match the value the module has requested, the code is set. The fault can lie in the connector, in the wiring to the valve or in the valve itself.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation at the valve connector
- Power supply interrupted
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Signal cable shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1The fuel system works at very high pressure and can cause injury, so leave it alone
- 2Check the valve connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the fuel can flow freely from the tank, with no blocked lines, filter or pump
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve are not broken and have no contact with ground or supply voltage
- 5If the code returns after clearing and a test drive, and nothing is found, a workshop should replace the fuel pressure control valve
