Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
Engine control has logged a second-phase current to the throttle motor that is not what it should be. The first phase then takes over throttle control, and output is limited. The cause may be in the connectors, the motor wiring or the throttle module itself.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open or short circuit to ground or supply voltage in the throttle motor signal wires
- Defective throttle module
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors to the throttle motor and its control unit for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Have a workshop measure the throttle motor resistance and replace the motor if needed
- 3Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 4If nothing is found, the fault may be temporary or the throttle module may be defective, which a workshop should check
Symptoms you may notice4
- The malfunction indicator lamp comes on
- The car performs worse
- Fuel consumption is high
- Cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect3
- The first phase of the throttle motor is used for throttle control
- Engine output is limited
- Cruise control is switched off
