What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives no usable signal from the generator, or the signal is faulty. It normally gives no noticeable symptoms for the driver.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check the generator connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the generator is not broken and has no contact with ground or supply voltage
- 3Check that the battery is charged and in good condition, since the charging system works with the generator
- 4Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the generator and its wiring
