What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the signal ground for the MAF sensor. The fault is set when that ground is faulty, and the cause can be connections, a broken ground wire or a short to voltage.
Possible causes
- Ground wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged MAF sensor
- Supply wire from the system relay shorted to ground
- Contact resistance, oxidation or break in the connections
- Break in the power supply to the MAF sensor
- Break in the ground wire
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check the MAF sensor connections for contact resistance, play and oxidation
- 3With a multimeter, check that the ground wire to the MAF sensor has no break
- 4With a multimeter, check that the supply wire to the MAF sensor is not shorted to ground
- 5Check that the power supply to the MAF sensor has no break and that the ground wire is not shorted to voltage
- 6If the wiring is fine: have a workshop check the MAF sensor
