What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred but does not necessarily remain present right now. The engine control module (ECM) measures intake manifold pressure with a sensor and sets the fault when the sensor circuit is shorted to ground or voltage, or when it has a break.
Possible causes
- Damaged intake manifold pressure sensor
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Move and flex the pressure sensor wiring with the ignition on and see whether the fault code or the signal changes
- 3Check the pressure sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check the wire to the pressure sensor for breaks, pinch damage and chafing
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the pressure sensor value in live data while you move the wiring; if the value jumps or disappears, the wiring is most likely the cause
- 6If the wiring is fine: have a workshop check the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine warning lamp comes on
What the fault can affect1
- A value from the MAF sensor is used instead
