What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) measures intake manifold pressure with a pressure sensor and compares the value with a calculated model. The fault is set when the pressure signal differs too much from the model. The cause can be a faulty sensor, a faulty hose connection or contact resistance in the connector.
Possible causes
- Faulty pressure sensor
- Faulty hose connection to the intake manifold
- Contact resistance in the pressure sensor connector
- Damaged pressure sensor in the intake manifold
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check the hose between the pressure sensor and the intake manifold for damage and tightness
- 3Check the hose connections on the intake manifold for leaks and damage
- 4Check the pressure sensor connector and connections for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the pressure sensor value in live data and check that it changes when the accelerator pedal is pressed and released with the engine running
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine warning lamp comes on
- Poor throttle response
What the fault can affect1
- A value from the MAF sensor is used instead of the pressure sensor reading
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
