What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns the intake manifold pressure sensor. It is set when the sensor circuit is shorted to ground or voltage, or when there is a break in the circuit. Although the code is labelled too low, a signal that is too high can also set it.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged intake manifold pressure sensor
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: with the engine running, a wrong signal now means a permanent fault, a correct one an intermittent fault
- 3Check the wire to the pressure sensor for breaks, chafing and shorts to ground or voltage
- 4Check the pressure sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If the connector and wire are fine: have a workshop check the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine warning lamp comes on
- Poor throttle response
What the fault can affect1
- A value from the MAF sensor is used instead of the pressure sensor
