What does this fault code mean?
The fault is set when the outside air temperature sensor reads higher than the calculated outside temperature. It is only checked after a longer drive with the car moving, so it may appear only then.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged outside air temperature sensor
- Damaged intake air temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1If the fault code for the intake air temperature sensor is also stored, troubleshoot this code first
- 2Check the outside air temperature sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: after the car has stood still a while, outside and intake air temperatures in live data should be roughly equal
- 4Have a workshop measure the resistance of the outside air temperature sensor if the connector is fault-free
