What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives the outside air temperature from the central electronics module (CEM) over CAN. When the CEM has judged the signal to be faulty, the fault is also set in the ECM, so the cause lies in the CEM.
Possible causes
- The cause lies in the central electronics module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1First read the fault codes in the central electronics module (CEM) and fix them
- 2The fault code in the engine control module can only be cleared once the CEM fault has been fixed and cleared
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether an outside temperature is shown at all
- 4If the fault remains after the CEM check: have a workshop look at the CEM wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Hard starting
- The outside temperature gauge shows wrong values or does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The intake air temperature is used instead of the outside air temperature
