What does this fault code mean?
The outside air temperature signal is sent over CAN from the CEM. The fault is set in the engine control module when the signal is judged to lie below its normal signal range, which can be caused by a damaged sensor, a short to voltage or a break.
Possible causes
- Damaged outside air temperature sensor
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1First read the fault codes in the central electronics module (CEM) and fix them
- 2Check that the outside air temperature sensor connector is firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 3Check the wire to the outside air temperature sensor for breaks and shorts to voltage
- 4If the fault remains: have a workshop check the sensor and the CEM
Symptoms you may notice2
- Starting difficulties
- The outside temperature gauge does not work or shows wrong values
What the fault can affect1
- The engine uses the value from the intake air temperature sensor
