What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps an eye on the A/C system and judges whether the A/C pressure sensor reading is plausible. The fault is set when the signal exceeds a limit, which can be caused by an electrical fault in the sensor or its connections. The fault is checked when engine speed is high enough.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged A/C pressure sensor
- Break in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive with the engine at higher revs to see whether it returns
- 2Check the A/C pressure sensor connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check the signal wire to the A/C pressure sensor for breaks
- 4Check that the signal wire is not shorted to voltage
- 5If the wiring is fault-free: have a workshop fit a new A/C pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Temperature control and air conditioning do not work
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
