What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the mass air flow (MAF) sensor with the intake manifold pressure (MAP) sensor while lambda control is active. If the MAF sensor reads more than the MAP sensor, the fault code is set. The code can be set together with other fault codes, and then those should be traced together.
Possible causes
- The MAF sensor reads more air than the MAP sensor in the intake manifold
- Air leak in the intake system, for example in the hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body
- Poor contact at the MAF sensor or the pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check the connectors at the MAF sensor and the pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Check that the hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body is intact, firmly fitted and not leaking
- 3Check that the hose between the pressure sensor and the intake manifold is airtight, undamaged and not trapped
- 4With a diagnostic tool, switch off A/C and seat heaters, then compare the MAF and pressure values in live data at idle and at higher speed
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the MAF sensor and the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
