What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the integrated output stages for the fuel injectors and how much fuel each one injects. The last digit of the code shows that the fault concerns cylinder 3.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections to the cylinder 3 injector
- Open circuit in the signal wire (+) to cylinder 3
- Open circuit in the signal wire (-) to cylinder 3
- Damaged cylinder 3 injector
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check the connector to the cylinder 3 injector. Look for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Look for pinched or chafed wires to the cylinder 3 injector, and use a multimeter to check that the wires have no open circuit
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the cylinder 3 injector and check that it responds
- 4If the code comes back after clearing and test driving, although the wiring is intact, have a workshop replace the injector

- The engine lacks power
