What does this fault code mean?
The ECM compares the requested throttle position with the actual position. The fault is only set if the difference is large enough during catalytic converter warm-up to affect the exhaust emissions.
Possible causes
- Other fault codes stored in the control module
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the throttle unit and the control module
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes and trace any other stored codes first
- 2Switch off the ignition and check the connectors between the throttle unit and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that both throttle position sensors show reasonable values at different throttle openings
- 4Check that nothing blocks the throttle and that it moves freely
- 5Clean the throttle unit if it is dirty. If the fault remains, have a workshop replace it
