What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the signal to the swirl flap motor, which operates the swirl flaps in the intake duct. If the signal is too high, fault code ECM-1800 is set.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged linkage between the swirl flap motor and the swirl duct
- Damaged swirl flap motor
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and look for chafed or pinched wires to the swirl flap motor. Then use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to battery voltage
- 2Check that the linkage between the swirl flap motor and the swirl duct is firmly attached and undamaged
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the swirl flap motor and listen for a ticking sound while it works
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the swirl flap motor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor acceleration
- The engine feels lacking in power
