Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks that the signal from the mass air flow sensor is reasonable. If it is judged unreasonable, fault code ECM-1806 is set. The fault may lie in the air flow sensor, a sticking EGR valve or the connector.
Possible causes
- Defective mass air flow sensor
- Sticking or damaged EGR valve
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the air flow sensor connector
- Fault in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check the air flow sensor connector for play, oxidation and contact resistance
- 2Look for damage to the EGR valve and check whether it sticks
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the air mass value rises when the accelerator is pressed and falls when it is released
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine feels sluggish
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a fixed value for the air quantity
