Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The accelerator pedal has two sensors, and the ECM compares them with each other. The fault code for sensor 2 is set on a fault in its signal or supply wire, or if the difference between the sensors becomes too large. The engine is then controlled by sensor 1 instead.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage or ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Defective accelerator pedal position sensor
- Supply wire shorted to system voltage or ground
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Defective engine control module
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check the pedal sensor connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: press the accelerator pedal fully down and release it straight away, and check in live data that sensor 2 follows sensor 1
- 3If the fault comes and goes, it may be oxidation or poor contact, and it can appear at any pedal position
- 4If the fault remains or is permanent, have a workshop replace the accelerator pedal position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine is controlled by pedal sensor 1 instead
