ECM-1814 - EGR valve. Faulty signal
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)

Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks how much air flows through the EGR valve and compares it with the calculated flow. If the flow does not match, fault code ECM-1814 is set. The cause may be an EGR valve that has stuck, or an air leak in the intake or the EGR system.
Possible causes
- EGR valve stuck in the open or closed position
- Air leak in the intake system
- Air leak in the EGR system
- Defective mass air flow sensor
What you can do
- 1Check whether the EGR valve is sticking or stuck in one position, and look for damage to the valve
- 2Look for cracks and loose connections in the intake system, including around the components there
- 3Look for cracks and defective connections in the hoses of the EGR system
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the EGR valve position in live data and see whether it changes when the engine speed is raised
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the EGR valve and the mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a fixed value for EGR flow
