What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the supply voltage and signal to the position sensor on the swirl flap motor. If the signal is too low, fault code ECM-1830 is set, and the cause may be a short to ground.
Possible causes
- Supply to the position sensor shorted to ground
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check the connectors to the swirl flap motor's position sensor for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check that the supply and signal wires to the position sensor are not shorted to ground
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the swirl flap motor and check that it runs and then switches off again
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- A warning message in the text display
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
