Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tests whether the fuel injectors shut off properly when the engine stops. During shut-down the engine speed should fall as expected. If the ECM registers a faulty signal from the injector output stage, the code is set. A leak in the fuel system is one possible cause, but a defective pressure control valve, relief valve, injector or fuel pressure sensor can also set it.
Possible causes
- Leakage in the fuel system
- Defective fuel pressure control valve
- Defective relief valve
- Defective injector
- Defective fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and check whether it returns
- 2Look for leaks in the fuel system, such as cracks and damage to the pipes, connections and relief valve
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate one injector at a time and listen for it working
- 4Check the connectors at the fuel pressure sensor and the injectors for play and corrosion
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pressure and the pressure control if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
