What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the position of the swirl damper with a calculated value. If the damper position is incorrect, the code is set. The cause may be that the swirl damper, the linkage or the swirl throttle motor is sticking or damaged. The fault gives a message in the information display.
Possible causes
- Swirl damper or linkage sticking
- Damaged linkage between the swirl throttle motor and the swirl channel
- Swirl damper motor sticking
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Make sure the swirl channel is free from dirt and that the linkage moves freely
- 3Check the swirl damper motor for sticking and damage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the swirl damper motor and listen for a ticking sound when it is activated
- 5Have a workshop replace the swirl damper motor if it is damaged or sticking
Symptoms you may notice1
- A message appears in the information display
