What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors fuel pressure and looks for leaks in the fuel system. If the module registers a pressure that is incorrect or outside its permitted range, the code is set. The causes may be a leak, a blocked fuel filter, or a fault in the pressure control, the injectors or the fuel pressure sensor.
Possible causes
- Leakage in the fuel system
- Blocked fuel system or fuel filter
- Defective fuel pressure control valve
- Defective relief valve
- Defective injector
- Defective fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Look for leaks in the fuel system, such as cracks and damage to the pipes, connections and relief valve
- 3Check whether the fuel filter is blocked and replace it if it is
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel pressure in live data and see whether it is steady with the engine at idle
- 5Have a workshop measure the fuel pressure and check the injectors if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine cuts out
- The engine does not start
- The engine feels sluggish
