What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has found an internal fault in its own electronics. A single fault may have occurred at some point, for example at start-up, and then disappeared, while a fault that keeps returning means the engine control module needs replacing. In this case the engine does not start.
Possible causes
- Defective engine control module (ECM)
- Temporary interference in the control module, for example at start-up
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the battery terminals and cables are clean and firmly fitted
- 3Check that the connectors at the engine control module are secure and free from corrosion
- 4If the fault returns after these checks, have a workshop replace the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
