What does this fault code mean?
The ECM gets its speed information from the brake control module (BCM) over the CAN network. If the communication is lost or disturbed, the code is set and the engine control module uses the last measured speed. The fault shows as a text message or a warning symbol in the display.
Possible causes
- Faulty CAN communication
- The fault may lie in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) and in the central electronics control module (CEM) and fix those first
- 2Clear the fault code in the engine control module once the other faults are fixed, then check whether it returns
- 3Check that the connectors at the brake control module are secure and clean
- 4Drive carefully and have a workshop check the brake system if the fault remains, since the signal comes from the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Text message or warning symbol in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses the last measured speed signal
