What does this fault code mean?
The accelerator pedal position is sent from the central electronics control module (CEM) to the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The pedal sensor's analogue signal is wired straight to the CEM. If the engine control module receives notice that the information from the CEM is incorrect, the code is set. The fault can come from poor contact in the connectors or a damaged accelerator pedal position sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the accelerator pedal moves freely and returns without sticking
- 3Check that the connectors at the accelerator pedal and at the central electronics control module (CEM) are secure and clean
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the accelerator pedal position in live data as you press and release the pedal and check that the value follows the movement smoothly
- 5Have a workshop check the accelerator pedal position sensor if the fault remains
