What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives information about the desired engine speed from the transmission control module (TCM). If the TCM has registered a fault in the speed signal, it sends a fault message to the engine control module, which then stores the code. This is a follow-on fault: the root fault lies in the TCM and must be fixed first, and only then can the code be cleared.
Possible causes
- The root fault lies in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM) and fix those first
- 2Clear the fault code in the engine control module only after the root fault is fixed, then check that it does not return
- 3Have a workshop troubleshoot the transmission control module and the speed signal if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
