What does this fault code mean?
Using the pressure sensor, the ECM monitors the difference in pressure across the particle filter. If the signal from the pressure sensor is judged to be incorrect, the code is set. The fault can be caused by hoses to the sensor that are swapped, pinched or loose, or by a clogged or damaged particle filter or a damaged pressure sensor.
Possible causes
- The hoses to the particle filter pressure sensor have been swapped
- Pinched hose
- Loose hose
- Clogged or damaged particle filter
- Damaged particle filter pressure sensor
- Particle filter missing
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the hoses to the particle filter pressure sensor are not swapped and are on the correct connections
- 3Check that the hoses are not pinched, chafed or loose
- 4Check the connector at the pressure sensor for oxidation and play
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pressure in live data while you rev the engine and check that it rises
- 6Have a workshop check the particle filter and the pressure sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine (malfunction indicator) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The engine has poor performance or lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- The car goes into limp-home mode with reduced performance
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
