What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has found that the signal to the injector on cylinder 3 is too high. This can be a signal wire with a short to supply voltage, or a damaged injector. The code applies to cylinder 3 only.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it comes back
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to injector 3 has no contact with supply voltage
- 3Look at the connector at injector 3 and fix any damage or corrosion
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate injector 3 and listen for it working
- 5Have a workshop replace the injector if the fault is still there
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
- Not all cylinders are firing
