What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks how quickly the front oxygen sensor switches between rich and lean. If the module registers a fault in the sensor's switching, the code is set. The fault is caused by a defective front oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Defective front oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector at the front oxygen sensor is firmly seated and clean; do not use penetrating spray or grease on it
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oxygen sensor signal in live data with the engine running and see whether it switches clearly between high and low
- 4Have a workshop replace the front oxygen sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
What the fault can affect1
- Fuel trim control is switched off
