ECM-211A
VOLVO
ECM-211A - Fuel pressure. Signal missing
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS40 (2004–2013), S60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V50 (2004–2013), V70 (2000–2008)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM uses a PWM signal to set the pressure through the pump control module. If the pressure pulsates too much, the code is set. Air or blocked fuel lines can cause this, and a damaged fuel pump control module can also be the cause.
Possible causes
- Air in the fuel lines
- Blocked fuel lines
- Damaged fuel pump control module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the engine control module and fix any other faults first, since this code can be a follow-on fault from the fuel pump control module
- 2Make sure the tank is not nearly empty, since air can be drawn into the system
- 3Inspect the fuel hoses and filter for clogging, damage and leaks
- 4Check the connectors between the fuel pump control module and the fuel pump for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Have a workshop measure the fuel pressure and check the fuel pump if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice5
- The engine does not start or is hard to start
- The engine stalls
- Poor performance or lack of power, even at take-off
- The engine hesitates or jerks
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
