Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) manages the air-fuel mixture using the bank 2 oxygen sensor and adjusts injection time to reach lambda 1. If that adjustment reaches its upper limit under higher load and can no longer keep up, the code is set. The cause may be a leak or low fuel pressure, but a damaged bank 2 oxygen sensor can also cause it.
Possible causes
- Leak in the intake air system
- Leak in the exhaust system
- Low fuel pressure
- Damaged bank 2 oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Check the intake hoses and connections on the intake side for leaks
- 3Check the exhaust system for leaks
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the bank 2 lambda integrator in live data at idle and under load
- 5Have a workshop check the fuel pressure if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
