What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the signals from accelerator pedal circuit 1 and circuit 2, and stores the code when circuit 1 is faulty or when the two circuits do not agree with each other. The code is tested while driving, and a damaged accelerator pedal position sensor is a possible cause.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring and connectors at the accelerator pedal for chafing, play and corrosion
- 2Have a diagnostic tool? Follow the pedal movement in live data as you press and release the pedal slowly, and check that circuits 1 and 2 follow each other without sudden drops
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cables from the pedal are not broken or short-circuited to ground or voltage
- 4If the wiring is sound but the fault remains, have a workshop check the accelerator pedal position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
