ECM-2125
VOLVO
ECM-2125 - Accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor, circuit 2. Faulty
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the accelerator pedal position sensor and stores the code when it registers faulty signals from it, here on circuit 2. The fault can be caused by an open circuit, a short to ground or to battery or reference voltage, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Signal cable short-circuited to battery voltage or reference voltage
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Work through the other engine control codes first, and clear this code last
- 2Inspect the wiring to the accelerator pedal sensor for chafing, pinching and breaks
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not in contact with ground or battery voltage
- 5Have a diagnostic tool? Read the circuit 2 pedal signal in live data while you press and release the pedal, and see whether it drops out
- 6If the wiring is sound but the fault remains, have a workshop replace the accelerator pedal position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) comes on
