What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the pulse length of the PWM signal from accelerator pedal circuit 2 and stores the code when it is incorrect. A damaged accelerator pedal position sensor can cause the fault, and the code may also be stored incorrectly after a control module in the car has been reprogrammed.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring and connectors at the accelerator pedal for chafing, play and corrosion
- 2Have a diagnostic tool? Follow the pedal movement in live data while you press and release the pedal slowly, and check that the circuit 2 signal follows the movement
- 3If a control module in the car has recently been reprogrammed, the code may have been stored incorrectly, so clear it and road test before replacing any part
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the accelerator pedal position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine responds poorly when you press the accelerator
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
