What does this fault code mean?
The pedal sensor's analogue signal runs to the central electronic module (CEM) and is passed to the engine control module over the CAN bus. The code is stored when the engine control module detects a signal that is too low, and the cause can be a contact fault, a CAN fault or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals
- Fault in CAN communication between the engine control module and the CEM
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their location is given in the owner's manual
- 2Test the relevant functions with the buttons, controls or a test drive, to see whether the fault gives symptoms right now
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal and where the wiring joins for oxidation and contact resistance
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the pedal value in live data while you slowly press the pedal, and check whether the value stays too low or jumps
- 5If the connectors are sound but the fault remains, have a workshop check the CAN communication to the CEM and replace the pedal sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
