What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the pedal sensor signal, which runs through the central electronic module (CEM) and over the CAN bus, and stores the code when the signal is too high. The fault can be caused by a CAN fault, a faulty analogue value from the pedal sensor or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Fault in CAN communication between the engine control module and the CEM
- Fault in the pedal sensor's analogue value
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their location is given in the owner's manual
- 2Test the relevant functions during a test drive to see whether the fault gives symptoms right now
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal and where the wiring joins for oxidation and contact resistance
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the pedal value in live data while you press and release the pedal, and see whether it goes too high or jumps
- 5If the connectors are sound but the fault remains, have a workshop check the CAN communication and replace the pedal sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
