What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the pedal sensor's analogue value with its PWM value and stores the code when the difference between them is too large. The analogue signal travels via the central electronic module and the CAN bus, so a fault there can cause the same code.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Fault in CAN communication between the engine control module and the CEM
- Fault in the PWM or analogue signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1First fix any codes in the central electronic module (CEM), and clear this code last
- 2Have a diagnostic tool? Read the pedal value in live data while you slowly press and release the pedal, and check that the PWM value and the analogue value change together
- 3Check the accelerator pedal connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check the signal cable for breaks, and use a multimeter to check that it is not short-circuited to ground or voltage
- 5If no fault is found but the fault remains, have a workshop replace the accelerator pedal position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output may be limited
